Battery issues on 2019 models

I recently bought a 2019 30th edition and on my first journey the battery warning light came on instructing me to pull over & seek help. I ignored it & managed to safely complete my journey. A battery test then confirmed that it was in good order. I have spoken with a friend today who also has recently purchased a 2019 edition and has experienced the same battery warning on several occasions even after purchasing a new battery. I can remember that Mazda recalled the 2017/18 versions for a fix as a result of batteries being drained. Could the 2019 versions also be affected by this issue or is it a separate electrical issue? Does any one have any similar experiences of this issue and/or suggestions for the best fix?

Many thanks for sending me the link to a previous forum discussion which is most helpful and explains the issues that I’ve been dealing with.

Check that the battery connections are tight, even if you think they are given them an extra half turn for luck (at your own risk of course).

The charging malfunction warning can be related to not optimally tight connections, at approaching 6 years old too it’s not inconceivable that replacing the battery will banish any odd warnings.

I have a 30AE and had problems with Battery malfunction warnings for over 18 months. Two visits to main dealer total clean bill of health including battery condition / performance. The car usually restarted fine then did not, took over 2 hours before it restarted. I changed the battery about 500 miles ago, no further problems and the istop which was dodgy for ages now works perfectly. Fingers crossed this annoying gremlin has been fixed. The battery was purchased from main agent expensive? no £60 cheaper than Halfords.
