I have searched, but as my question is quite specific I can’t find the answer I am looking. hoping for!
I have my first MOT with my BBR Super 200 booked on Wednesday.
When I was with BBR, the manager suggested the cat needs to be warm before going for the MOT to get it though the emissions testing… I was a bit puzzled by this at the time, but it then slipped my mind as I was too busy hooning
A couple of questions spring to mind:
Has anyone ever had a catted BBR Manifold fail for emissions?
Has anyone ever left their car with the garage for a few hours before the MOT test time, which would allow the cat to cool down?
I plan to take the car in warm, but I have to drop it off around an hour before the MOT is booked for.
I think I am just being neurotic, but if anyone has any perspective on this that will calm my nerves that would be great.
I’m also interested to see how people get on with this. Normally I’d take the car in after a good run, but I’m thinking of leaving it with them for a few days to do an under seal and service beforehand. I guess I could just ask the garage to give it a thorough road test before the MOT to check that everything works nicely after the service?
I had my MOT done last month at Halfords. It took him three attempts to pass the emissions - he did have to get the car hot. (BBR220 with catted header)
im not saying who, but some of us may have slipped £50 to have this happen on their heavily modified car
however i think someone at the pub told me MOT testing stations are now expecting to have CCTV recording in the MOT testing bay. not sure if that was true or gossip.
@Antony_NC2 pleased it passed mine is about to get fitted so ill be with you in 8/9 months lol
Hi,
In order to test probe the emission level of any vehicle it MUST be run up to it’s operating temperature. Ergo, a BBR Mid manifold Cat will be hot and assuming that it has not been damaged, or is worn out, will NOT be a problem. My BBR Super 200 MX has enjoyed 3 MOT’s with no issues whatever.
Best,
