Actually, I have been surprised by the absence of flags, particularly on cars. It used to be the case, back in the 90s and 00s, that they would be fluttering on the windows of every second car when England was involved in a Euros or World Cup tournament. I was just remarking to my daughter the other day how things have changed. We concluded that England fans had tired of being suckers for punishment

Well, two interesting matches this evening and I haven’t a clue who will win, but I know who I’d like to see win:- Switzerland and Belgium. Whoops, sorry I’ve probably just put the mokkers on their chances.
