I have to go and collect my Up! which is in for a service. A 9 mile hilly bike ride so they’d better call me in well before 5pm or else…

If it’s being serviced by an “Independent” you might get an early call, but “Main Dealer.”., probably about 5…! :unamused:

I will still be at work and by the time I get home the second half would be about to start, what a stupid time to start a match :rage:

Good 1st half, though went a bit pedestrian in the 2nd…, but Sterling, Grealish and Kane came good in the end, with Pickford making some wonderful saves for a great and historic win…!

Ukraine v Sweden… My goodness, that was a battle of attrition to the end, but well done Ukraine… Some injuries and bruises to fix before they play England in Rome…

No sorry we have a great national anthem!
I do wish football fans would respect each others national anthems and not boo and shout during them.

Not to be taken too seriously.
Like the entire audience didnt.
Perhaps they regarded the UK national as much a Mogadon Moment as Liz…

Even as a Scot, I saw England give blood for that result.
After a year & a half of tumbleweed in all sports, I have to admit, through a teary eye while gripping my seat, England got what it deserved. Scotland failed…a sit deserved. I’d rather a UK team one anyhow…and do not really care which now.

For once it was the Germans that were unlucky. Not to detract from a couple of superb goals from England. And, on top of that Mark Cavendish won a sprint finish to win a stage in the Tour de France. He had also been written off by many.

Not what the German press are saying. No sour grapes over there. All the lead pieces are saying they aren’t the feared force of old and it was a fair and deserved result.

I would say similar luck both sides. With good luck Germany could have won 3-2 but with bad luck they could have lost 5-0.

Of course when we won in '66 it was against West Germany!, and my knowledge of international football doesn’t go as far as knowing, were West Germany a better side than a reunified Germany side…!?
Rob

West Germany of '66 probably better than reunified Germany 2021. Then again you can only judge against other teams of the same era. Same as Fangio, Senna, Schumacher, Hamilton. Who was best? Who knows.

Ah , that explains the daft flags everywhere . I thought there might be some Association Football match or other going on… Why does everybody, whether in the media or not, assume everybody else is interested in the…err…Beautiful Game ?

I blame Nick Hornby .
