Good evening all, I did a quick post to introduce myself in the new members area but also want to get a bit of a project thread going to keep track of how far I have come and show everyone the progress.
Background, I had a 97 Supercharged Glen Eagles NA that I bought in 2021 from Perth it had been sat for a while but looked fairly decent on the pictures. It was up for £1200 with no MOT so I offered him a grand and had it delivered to me for £200. Spend a few months sorting it out and drove it whilst my MR2 Turbo was off the road having welding done. Money got tight and I was told my MR2 would be ready imminently so I sold it in December 2024.
Roll on 6 months and my MR2 still isn’t ready
so I was looking for another project car. I bought a 2003 WRX that is an absolute nail and wasn’t really blown away by it, so it is going up for sale, in the mean time I was searching Facebook Marketplace and eBay frantically looking for a convertible project car before the sun disappears again! I look at a few Z4’s and Audi TT 225’s but nothing stood out to me until I found this:
It wasn’t too far from me but I didn’t have chance to view, the seller had it up for £1000 as a non-runner due to what he said may be a faulty immobiliser. I found someone to deliver it to me for £100, offered him £700 and we had a deal.

Looks great. I also have a 1990 Eunos project, similar situation in some ways. Good luck

Happy Sunday all! I have made a bit of progress with the car Since it has been delivered which I will post below and also created a YouTube channel for it although there isn’t anything uploaded yet as I am still trying to get my head around editing videos, link below for those that would like to see videos of the progress:

So before the updates a quick bit of info about the car, it is a 1991 Eunos which was imported in 2002 and has around 146k kms. It was last MOT’s in 2022 and the guy I bought it off said he bought it in 2023 “to fix up” he said in between moving house and other commitments he just couldn’t find the time and so felt it was time to move the car on.
In the advert he stated it needed inner and outer sills, general TLC and it would no longer start which he assumed was due to the aftermarket immobiliser.
The car was delivered on Wednesday 30th of July by a wonderful guy named John who lived just around the corner from the seller so for £100 I couldn’t say no to having it delivered to me! Getting it off the truck was a bit of a palaver with it being a non-runner, having flat tyres and my drive being on a bit of an angle but we got there in the end.

I have made a fair it of progress over the past week, including being able to take it for a quick run around the village. The first issue to solve was the non-start issue, after having many Japanese cars and trawling the forums and Facebook I concluded that it would either be the 80amp fuse in the engine bay, an immobiliser issue as the seller had mentioned or maybe starter motor. The symptoms were that the car wouldn’t even try to start, when the key was turned the blowers worked as did the radio but there were no lights on the dash at all!
In my mind this meant that the 80amp fuse was good as when they blow, nothing works but I checked it anyway as it was the easiest thing to check.
Didn’t look good so I replaced it anyway! She still wouldn’t turn over though
Well guys the first video is up, it is a bit ‘raw’ as it is the first time I have ever done anything like this!
She now starts and runs though so will write a but more of an update shortly.

Right, so after replacing the 80amp fuse the car still wouldn’t start although I didn’t think it would as the blowers and radio still worked prior to the replacement so I was semi confident the immobiliser was the issue.
After removing the seats (wanted to clean under them anyway) and doing a bit of MX-5 Yoga, I could see some non-standard looking electrical tape.
Sorry about the image quality it is a still from a video. There were two wires that had been cut from the ignition switch which once reconnected gave me lights on the dash. Flick of the key and she burst into life although very tappety. Add changed the oil and added some Wynnes hydraulic lifter fluid and it has gotten a little better.
Apologies for anyone that watched the first video, something happened during the upload so I have now reposted it and double checked it is working okay. Link below
