I have the garage and most of the parts needed to get started. (the delay was mainly due to a new baby… she is now 10 months old so is quite capable of holding a spanner.
i have a nice cheap mk1 to get experimenting on.
i have decided on the twin rear lights.
and i have linked up with a bodyshop who will take over from me when i get to the point i want to drive the car off a cliff…
There has been some progress and a few re-designs. Namely the design for the front grill has been tapered slightly and the nose squared off with a longer bottom splitter. Fabrication has also started on the rear. - Still a way to go but im happy with the progress.
Well the last few pictures had me thinking ‘oh dear’, but that’s now changed to an ‘OH YES!’. Looks very much a character of it’s own. Not a copy or update of anything. Tiny hints of so many cars but all the good bits of all the best. The more I look, the more I like. If only there was still a Mazda under there!
thats Roadie… thats what i was going for - Not too similar to anything already available. Sorry about the switch to a Z3 from the Mazda.
I did the switch for a number of reasons, and i am a massive fan of the MX5, as i have owned 2. And where the Z3 is faster and the engines are sweet, the handelling of the MX5 is far superior.
However i am fitting Polybushes and GAZ adjustable coilovers to help sort that particular problem
The process has been long as the design and car have evolved. But basically designing the car. And the creating a plug from the designs. Then a mould is then from the plug and a moulding popped out from the mould. I have now finished the front end mould so can produce bonnets at will
It’s proven very expensive. I don’t want to think how much. But I could have bought a nice ferrari for what I have spent so far and I’m only halfway there! It seems that dreams do have a price.
A sneak preview news article featuring the Bertini GT25 has just been published in Complete Kit Car magazine. The words have been blurred by request of the editors. But they said nice things
There have been a few developments:
Firstly there is another article - this time in TKC magazine (Total Kit Car). This one is an online article - but they want to do a print feature when its finished
here is the link to the online article:
Kit development wise the first moulding is out of the mould and the underskin is being developed and fixed to allow easy installation of lights and grills + easy fitment of the bonnet to the existing hinges.
i have my Z3 back from the local BMW specialists DM WORX - i have had Bilstein Shocks, Eibach Springs and poly bushes fitted. Plus many worn suspension parts replaced.
Also had the wheels fitted balanced and tracking adjusted - it now sits 30mm lower and you can really notice the difference in the cornering.
Here is a picture of the new wheels fitted to my Z3.
