Best headlight bulbs

I need some consumer advice. I’m thinking of replacing my headlight bulbs and was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to the best, brightest and which make bulbs to go for, thanks in advance.

I’ve been using Osram “Nightbreaker” bulbs in my Mk2 for a few years.  A marked and noticeably improvement over standard and a straight fit too.

Thanks, I’ve used them before but was wondering if there were any new ones on the market since I last bought these!!!

The latest one is the Osram nightbreaker unlimited

Nightbreakers came out top in the latest Autoexpress bulb tests

I always liked the Philips X-tremeVision bulbs, the Auto Express reviews seem to back this up every year too.

I’ve just fitted Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited in my newly acquired CRV. They’re excellent. Nightbreaker Plus already in my 5. I’ve been fitting Nightbreakers in all my motors for years, always a distinct improvement.

You might get more benefit fitting decent 7" headlamps; the original Koito branded headlamps fitted to UK cars weren’t the greatest (better than sealed beam Eunos Roadster headlamps though), plus those headlamps are coming up to 20 years old, and the mirroring may be starting to fail. Very impressed with the PIAA headlamps in my S-Limited. Less so with with the non-branded polycarbonate freeform headlamps in the 96 Roadster despite the use of decent Phillips-branded bulbs.

I have used www.powerbulbs.com to buy my bulbs. This week they have a 20% discount. They also have free postage. I shall buy some Philips Extreme Vision bulbs this week. These bulbs seem to have excellent reviews

Didn’t even come in the top 4 in 2013

Are all these just normal H4 bulbs then or is there a certain type needed? I think I’ll go for the osrams to be honest as I’ve used these before, thanks all.

Plus % bulbs will help but I fitted replacement reflectors to mine along with bulbs and it made a vast improvement. I got these which are apparently similar to Raybrigs but cheaper. http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/headlamp-crystal-clear-p-1148.html
