Hi, just bought my first ever 5 - an icy blue niseko 2.0 RC (I’m awfully excited still, can you tell?!) Anyway, after driving her for a few days in the rain, she really deserves a proper clean this weekend. Decided to treat her/me/us to some new products rather than using the old car shampoo etc that’s been in the shed for the past 2yrs! Any suggestions/recommendations? For both exterior and interior?
(Has the brown leather interior so a good leather cleaner would be ideal!! Also something for the dash etc, I’ve heard Macguires is good?)
Thanks everyone.
If you go to forum and look up, cleaning and detailing it should tell you all you need to know happy reading
It all really depends on your budget and whether you want to buy from a shop (Halfords) or online
Initially try Halfords
OR
My favourite:
‘Clean your Car’ www.cleanyourcar.co.uk
Thank you! I’ll check it out ![]()
Well I can certainly tell you what I use and have spent a few years trying different products etc but have settled on the following -
Car shampoo - Meguiars NXT car wash shampoo - a little goes a long way!!
Dash and interior - Poorboys Natural look dressing - gives a lovely matt finish and a great smell!
Leather treatment - Gliptone liquid leather cleaner and Gliptone leather conditioner - great products and really easy to apply!
Wax - Poorboys Nattys blue paste wax - a great wax for the price! Excellent durability!
Wheels - Bilberry wheel cleaner is excellent!
I think everybody has their own personal preferences when it comes to car cleaning but I’m really happy with the above products for my galaxy grey 5 - all of which are available from www.cleanyourcar.com.
I’d definitely recommend a washing mitt and a good drying cloth too!
When it comes to polishing, everybody will have their own opinions as it really does depend on the condition of the paintwork etc etc
Hope that helps!
I’ve just spent the afternoon cleaning my daily driver. It’s wasn’t in bad nick to start with as I wash it regularly and it’s just short of 2 years old.
I use Autoglym products, always have done. There’s comparable products, there’s more expensive and most likely better products but they do the job for me.
I use their shampoo for washing, Super resin polish for getting the road film off then protect with Aqua wax. Done regularly it takes no effort and keeps em looking good.
My true red Mk3 always looks gleaming when cleaned with Autoglym. They do a good range of interior cleaners and leather care products as well, needless to say I have all of them too, including the hood care stuff.
Thanks guys! Appreciate all the replies, Given me some ideas, will def check the website out
I know I’ve used some of the autoglym products in the past and was happy with the results but just wanted to see what other peoples opinions were, I’m not totally clued up
and want to make sure I’ve got the best stuff for my new pride and joy!
See the recent thread on Harley wax. Very easy to use and great results.
