Hi all just after some advice iif there are fellow motorbike riders among us as weather is very hot at moment I use my bike to go to work and it stays in the car park all day problem is there is no shade shelter area at all so it’s in the sun all day does anybody know of a cover I can purchase to keep the sun off the bike or any tips as I’m worried about it standing in this heat all day regarding all the plastic fairing and tank ect thanks
How about two car windshield sun reflectors sort of sewn together then weighted or tied on to bike never tried it but a light bulb just appeared but now its raining its just gone out again, owner of BMW R1100RS 1994 since 1998, cheers Rob.
I’m not a biker but I would have thought motorbikes are much the same as cars ie they’re designed and built to withstand being left outside in sun and rain. I would think you should be able to buy a lightweight cover with some heat reflecting properties that would help and which you could be folded up easily and carried.
I suspect the current heatwave will be shortlived and normal service resumed in due course, at which time you’ll probably be looking for a cover to prevent your bike rusting after standing out in the rain all day!
I bought one of these for my Honda ST1300 Pan European as I was concerned about the effects of the sun on the screen and plastics when we were touring in Italy and Greece.

It was very effective, packs away quite small and looks good… even though it looks quite skimpy on the Gold Wing in the picture.
I bought mine off Ebay as above there may be UK sellers.

Thanks guys good idea on sun shades and I’ll look at that cover
One of those emergency blanket type things, for walkers etc, that you can buy in Poundland for … £1. ?
Have never found xs sun or xs warmth to be an issue !!! usually problems include water ingress into the seat = wet ass, whatever you are wearin. Helmet / goggles misting up (freezing from t’ outside) and a general smelly dampness about my person. But then I do live by the sea.
All good bike shops will sell something suitable.
i think Halfords (yes, even them) can supply, if not try looking on EBay. I bought a nylon shaped cover for my Honda.
