Black MX5 MK2 for sale - MOT failure: chassis rust needs welding/repair in 2 places, otherwise V

Very much loved and well kept Black 1.8 model first registered in 2000, 85,000 miles.

Lots of history and receipts, regularly serviced throughout its life, engine still feels tip-top, oil & filter change every 5000 miles. New discs and pads fitted all round to pass MOT last year, new clutch slave cylinder 6 months ago, new centre exhaust 9 months ago. Quality black mohair roof (brand new) fitted 3 years ago, makes the car look high quality with black paintwork. Comfortable black/grey leather seats, chrome petrol cap, upmarket CD system with upgraded door speakers. High quality 13 spoke 15 inch alloys, which finish the car off very nicely. 2 new tyres last year.

Failed MOT inspection on 6 points, the main being corrosion on the nearside upper suspension arm mount and a much smaller patch of rust underneath the passenger seat belt and sill. Otherwise, very slightly over upper limit CO2 content and lambda reading, corrosion on front brake pipe. Quoted £750 for the work, but our funds won’t allow, so hoping someone has the skills/patience to keep an otherwise nice looking MX5 on the road. MOT until 3rd April. Not a big project according to garage.

Please email for photos. Sensible offers in excess of £400, we’re in no rush to sell. Sad to see it go actually.

Probably a good idea to photograph the areas that require welding and more importantly tell us where you are.

You say that you are in no rush to sell - fair enough but a rusting MX5 with no MOT hanging around cannot be ideal.

£750 spent on a £400 car = £1150, possibly money well spent by you or someone else.

your in box is fuul. so its not possible to message you for details.

Thanks for pointing this out. Inbox now cleared out, hopefully I can receive your message

We are located in Worcester WR3. Will get back with photos of corrosion and MOT failure certificate, though not sure how to upload photos.

In a nutshell, if you want the pictures to appear inline with the text you need to resize* them to no more than 640 pixels wide, upload them to somewhere such as https://postimages.org/, copy the direct link for the picture, then when you write your post click the image symbol and paste the direct link into the box.

*If you use postimage as above, then you can select to resize to 640 when you upload your images rather than having to do it yourself before upload.

EDIT - Actually there’s a step-by-step version here if you need more detail.  It mentions another way of displaying larger photos at 640 pixels.  Much bigger than that they will still display but they tend to get squashed laterally on many devices.
