I’m trying to get a decent paint match for Blaze Yellow (Paint Code 26V) but the paint thats been supplied to our bodyshop looks the wrong colour? Has anyone had a Blaze Yellow MX5 painted? or can help with the correct colour match?
Thanks
Lee

i think yellow is one of the hardest colours to match,i think you need to find a paint shop that can mix its own colours to get a really good match

Hi,
I’ve had the sills / arches repaired on mine by MNS in Nuneaton who did a brilliant job but there is a slight difference in paint colours in certain light conditions. From what I have read Blaze yellow is one of the worst colours to match and I have just resigned myself to the fact that it will never be a perfect match. There was a thread on the old forum about a guy who had to have his whole car resprayed because of one panel (boot). From what I know it is a 3 coat pearl effect. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. My bumpers also appear to be a different colour in certain lights too.
Cheers

Thanks Steve & Colin for you reply’s.
The bodyshop has sent the petrol flap off to the paint suppliers to get them to mix / match the paint rather than use the paint code as this seems to be miles out, i’m just waiting to get it back now.
Trust me to buy one thats a hard colour to match!
Can’t wait to get it painted and enjoy the summer with the roof down!!!
Cheers

i think as colin says you have to resighn to the idea of it being slightly different,i had a triumph motorbike which was a pearlesent yellow and even that from the factory looked differnt shades in the light, but good luck and hope all goes well with some good sunny summer days

Thanks Steve,
I hope it’s going to look ok, but as you say pearlesent colours are a nightmare to match, fingers crossed!!!
I’ll post some photos once it’s been done.
