Bleeding clutch

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __ NC1 2.0
  2. I’m based near: __Aberdeenshire
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ Clutch bleeding.

Hi guys. My gearbox is very slightly notchy. I’ve adjusted the clutch pedal which improved it a lot but I now want to bleed it to be sure. Two questions:

  1. What side of the transmission is the slave cylinder on?
  2. Is the master cylinder combined with the brakes?

Cheers.

  1. Left hand side, very close to the oil filter. Best to remove the plate completely and all will be revealed.

  2. Yes, combined brake/clutch master cylinder.

Top tip! Get a power bleeder and do NOT under any circumstances let the level get low. As if you get air in there it’s a right pain.

Best to get someone to continuously keep it topped up.

I speak from experience.

Excellent. Thanks mate. I’ve got a power bleeder anyway so will be using that.

Found a little access flap in the plastic shield underneath.
