Hey all.
I’m thinking about going to the national rally this year as it’s not too far. To make the most of the weekend there’s a track day at Blyton Park on Saturday 12th, be nice to go somewhere other than Knockhill.
Current plan is to stay at Gainsborough Travelodge 11th and 12th for the track day, and drive to the rally in the morning on the 13th.
If anyone’s up for joining, or planning to go to the rally already, let me know. Figured I’d put the idea out early.
Am I right in thinking this isn’t the club organised (MX-5 only) event, just an open trackday?
Yeah just a standard day. Think the MX-5 only one is in may?

I did the Track day in 2024 at Blyton Park, and Yes this was an MX-5 only day, I thought this would be a better option from Knockhill, I waited for my warranty to expire on my car (Extended to 4 Years). Now “My Precious” was out of the warranty period I wanted to take her out and see what I knew she could do, and have some fun. I had the best time ever Honestly, I would love to do it again the feeling on the track was so over whelming …..
I met so many very friendly people who would take you out in their car & ride along with you & also give you advice. Just to advise you, I had my car in to Mazda a week before for a service and got no problems “Big OK” car is in perfect nick… Unusual for Mazda I know…. BUT on my return home from the Track Day I had to take my car to Mazda as my Passenger window would not close & they did the “FREE” Health check as they do. I have a video if the before my service and after I took her in for the window, It looks like 2 different cars! I had to replace all my brake disks & my shock absorbers didn’t expect that was a big bill but

It was a great weekend I would recommend it all I say is be sure you get the car checked Before and Afterwards, Just be ready for a big bill. Still the best weekend I have had with my MX-5. Heads up if you do go, Have a full tank before you attend as you will empty it in no time at all.
PS Don’t put on your handbrake as it will lock the brakes on.
