Boot lid opening when shouldn’t

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __RF
  2. I’m based near: Stockport
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _Before I have changed to a new battery the boot lid started opening when using the key fob to open the doors and also flipping open again when turning the engine off. The same is still happening now I have
  4. a new battery installed. Can anyone help with a solution please?

Could be moisture in the boot release button on the rear bumper. The contacts can get shorted together so as soon as you unlock the car the boot opens.

Replacing the boot release button as a general rule. Depending on how handy you are you may want to see if it comes apart and if so, you could maybe clean/dry it out. To confirm that it is the cause, it’s worth just unplugging it first to see if that fixes the issue.

Bizarrely righted itself for a day and now has just started flipping open when I turn the engine off?
