Boot Lid Struts - Self Open

Does anyone know if there is hydrolic struts available for MX5 MK3.5 which when the button is pressed on the remote the boot lid pops up all the way on its own?

A bit silly I know but we need it to pop up when we press the boot open button.

Any info would be greatful

Craig

If you buy the chrome bootrack (MX5 parts) it comes with uprated gas struts to compensate for the extra weight, i’m sure a search on MX5 parts or even a phone call would give you what you need.

I still have the box and part numbers if you have no joy, i’ll have a dig about in my garage in the daylight if you still need.

Thanks for the info Safetymatch, I will have a look

I too would benefit from any info. Have bought a second hand rack without the struts. Mazda (tried 3 dealers) can’t get the parts neither can mx5parts mx5city etc.

Part numbers or any specifications would be brilliant.

These guys may be able to provide a strut the correct spec if we can find details

Ok, i’ve just been into my garage and found the box the uprated struts came in and guess what no part number, so just for you i have taken one of the struts off and here is the full info.

1st line,             Maxda winged badge.

2nd line,           STABILUS

3rd line,           LIFT.O.MAT

Then two lines of Chinese or Japanese writing.

Do you know if this kind of setup can be made to fit a mk1

Yes

These are from RS, I hadn’t painted the bracket when the pic was taken. I’ll get a part number tomorrow

Great thanks, I dont have a spoiler but I am fitting a boot rack, do you think it will work as well ?

Mine worked with a boot rack and spoiler, but didn’t like a 20kg suitcase as wellWink

That was my next question  mmm guess I’ll have to remember not to carry luggage on my new luggage rack Embarassed
