Boot Rack for a Mk3.5

I am the new owner of a 2009 2 litre injection MX5. Its my first MX5 and intend to travel abroad and will need a boot rack.

Can anyone advise me on which type/style/model of boot rack to fit and where can it be sourced.  Thanks

Have you considered the Bootbag option. Not cheap for what is(£75-£80), but really useful. We used one on recent 600+ mile round trip to the Lake district. Even with a boot rack, you still need some sort of waterproof luggage. Some people have commented that it marked the boot lid, but you have to use the supplied rubber matting(I doubled it with some extra stuff from Halfords for £5) and it was absolutely fine. A bit of common sense goes a long way. Anyway, have a great trip, whatever you choose.

Here you are for a new one!

or for a used one keep looking on this forum…

greetings and welcome

See if you can live with what you can fit in the boot, a boot rack will interfere with visibility and create turbulance.

You will be surprised what you can fit in the boot, we can easily get 2 weeks worth of clobber in there for both of us.

Welcome on board and as Nickand Jane said, source a couple of suitable size squashy bags and you should be good for a two week trip.

These racks look pretty good (there’s a video of how it attaches to the boot lid).

Many thanks for all your replies. I didn’t realise the boot was so deep, so perhaps I’ll save some money or at most get a hold of a new boot bag.
