Borbet Alloys

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC
  2. I’m based near: Duns
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: I have been offered some Borbet Alloys - 5 stud - will they fit the MX-5 NC - I can see 7,5Jx17H2 on the inner rim

Will they fit?

You should check the PCD, the distance between the mounting holes in effect. This needs to be 5x114.3 for the NC.

You should also check what offset the wheels are, so you can get a proper idea of fitment. This is sometimes expressed as an ‘ET’ number.

Your existing wheels are ET55. So if the wheels you’re looking for are ET45 as an example, the wheel will sit a further 10mm out from the arch.

thank-you. I will see if there is any more info on the rims. They are only a few miles from my house, so I may go over and see them in person when I finish work for the week.

I can see an ELT number

See what extra information the seller has. The ET reference should be on the inside of one of the other spokes.

That ELT number might well be an internal Borbet code for the model of wheel.

Thanks, I’ll go and see them then  Would be good to upgrade to 17 inch, and the tyres are good too

I think the ELT116 is the Borbet XR design. Do you have other photos - does this design look right?

If so, in a 7.5x17 size, the PCD won’t be right for you :frowning:
This design is available in 5x112 & 5x120 sizes, which are popular for VW Group and BMW fitment. You can see further info/specs here:

To be honest, I was surprised that 5x114.3 would be an option from them, as they tend to focus on the European vehicle aftermarket and 5x114.3 is more of a Japanese standard in my experience.

Cheers,
Steve
