Bose CD player failure

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __MK 3 2 litre sport
  2. I’m based near: __Winchester
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Failed Bose CD unit with CD.s inside
    This is a repeated request since I posted this problem in Dec 2024. Mal Rowland of Solent offered to help and I visited but the weather and space at that time did not allow any work to be done.
    Since therefore I have got not further,I wonder if there are any members within a 30 mile radius who might be able to help. It does involve the removal of the unit and progress from there is dependent or whether the unit can be repaired or replaced.
    Probably needs someone who had done this before. Thanks.

Many thanks. I have been waiting to see if anyone else replied but no one else has done so. Can you remind me where you are; was it near Reading?
Cannot remember whether you said you had done the removal of one of these units before and whether you had a garage?

Hi Yes I am in Woodley, Reading. easiest for you is to head through Bracknell off the M3.

Removed and fitted many of these OEM radios. I have a garage but also gazebo.

That sounds good, although the radio is working fine it is just the CD player that is not.
If you can make any of the following days and let me know your address that I can drive over; Monday 3 March, Wednesday 5 March, Saturday 8 March.
Only thing that concerns me is that supposing we manage to remove the unit where we go from there, since unless you can repair it I have no replacement unit and we would just have to put it back again. I guess in that circumstance we might at least be able to remove the CD’s and get the serial number but then I would still be in the same position.

Thank you so much for your work, help and advice today.
I have purchased the Bose NC1 unit on Ebay so hopefully it will work ok.
After it arrives hopefully I can contact you again and arrange a convenient time
to visit again to fit that and dismantle the old unit as I would really like to get those CD’s out if possible.

Hi Duane
The ebay unit has just arrived and looks in pretty good condition. The only difference I can see visually is that the unit in may car says MP3 next to the load button and this one says ‘6 disc in dash’
The serial number says part no NF77 66 ARX whereas mine says NF76 66 ARX.
Anyway hopefully this one will be ok and we can fit it and dismantle the other one.
With that in mind are you available on Thursday 13 if I drive up again or failing that then on Monday 17 or Friday 21?
