Bose radio in NC intermittent "time standing still"

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __ NC
  2. I’m based near: __ Manchester
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ Bose radio issue

Hi folks,

So today, the clock on my Bose radio unit “froze” for twenty minutes. I turned the radio off, then back on again, and it was instantly back to normal.

I also noticed that the name of the radio station also disappeared off the LED screen at the same time as the clock freeze.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to what might have caused it?

Thanks,

Nick

Were you doing 88mph?

I wonder if it is one of the power supply wires or the fuses. ( corrosion ?? )
The Bose has two power supply wires.
One is a permanent live ( 15 amp fuse - feeds pin 1B )
One is ignition live ( 7.5 amp fuse - feeds pin 1R )

the “88 mph” made me smile :upside_down_face:

And thanks for the wiring thought, @cbrdeano Interestingly, although time stood still and the radio station name disappeared, the radio did continue playing music from that radio station.

I’ll keep an eye on it, see if it happens again

Nick

That would suggest it could be the permanent live feed.
It is the permanent live that keeps the clock time and the radio stations when the car is switched off.

Take a look at the fuse panel behind the left footwell trim - make sure a bulkhead grommet leak has not caused corrosion.
