I’d have to admit it does set off the front look perfectly. A subtle change but well worth the effort. We were fortunate that the previous owner had done this work already.

Good choice my 2009 is the same colour. However don’t scratch it …the paint cooper red is expensive. I was quoted £700 just to repaint the boot lid.
We bought our Copper Red 2009 NC3 mid March and had it Autoglym Lifeshined by Mazda. Crossing fingers it will help
Paint shops aren’t cheap now. I used to be able to get a car repainted for 1500 without extra repairs, now it’s more like 3500
I have a NC3 2.0 PRHT Sport Tech in white and I think they are brilliant

Looks great, just out of interest does anyone have knowledge on dechroming the front grill surround or is this something you can replace?
Make sure you put the top down at any opportunity . No effort involved. Ours is a white one to blend in with the snow up here in North Yorks. Incidentally is a sport tech the same as a sport nav as that’s what we have.

Sport Tech and Sport Tech Nav same car just the navigation the difference.
This is actually going to be my first job my mx5, I’ve researched it a fair bit and it looks fairly simple and theres a couple of options to do it.
Personally im thinking about either replacing the whole grille with the black bar grille that I’ve seen in a few mk3.5s or but a replacement grille surround and just replace that bit.
There’s also the option of painting or plastidipping the grille surround which you can do without removing the bumper, but I’m no artist. 
That’s my plan! This is my first convertable so I’ll be making the most of it!
