Brake bleeding

Hi

Purchased Eezibleed kit but the supplied reservoir tops are the wrong size. Multipurpose top available for a further £20 but it looks a bit heath robinson to me. Surely there must be one made for the worlds most numerous sports car. Help please. Problem made worst by the fact that I purchased hose clamp to stop loss of fluid when I removed caliper and that didn’t work at all, neither did mole grips hence I lost an awful lot of fluid. As I am a fully fledged member of the bus pass brigade maybe it’s a case of brain malfunction. Any help much appreciated.

Keith Pearce.

Keith, sorry to hear of your trouble. You don’t say which model but, especially if it has ABS, don’t let the fluid drop too low in the master as it’s a pig to bleed through the abs unit if you get air in. I use the simple Vizibleed rubber pipe with valve £5 from Halfords, just do a dozen pumps then top up manually, works fine single handed, http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_204703_langId_-1_categoryId_255216

I have a couple of different kits for doing this one being an air line bleeder, the best why ever to do this is creeping around your good lady to pump the brakes while useing a good old rubber pipe and old glass jar everytime.

The eaziblleed kit does not have a lid adaptor for the Mx/Roadster.

The eezibleed kit is used a lot for older cars - where an adaptor is not readily available people tend to make one up using a scrap reservoir lid.

The eezibleeds main advantage is the extra reservoir and removal of the need to pump the pedal - with the small aluminium reservoirs on many older cars all the fluid goes out of the reservoir pretty quick!

I’ve used tha Halfords cheapy, it works well, its a clear tube with a built-in valve so you can do the job without help - just pum the pedal a couple of times, check what’s in the tube then top-up the reservoir and do another couple of pumps if needed!

Thanks for all of your help. I have a 1995 1.8 Eunos. Think I will try the Halfords cheapy.Could ask her indoors but I would like to maintain marital harmony and it is also pocket money day today.

Just used visibleed on my RH7 [now sold ]cracking peice of kit and cheap too [ Halfords trade card ,worth pushing your local manager for ] Cost £3.99 mick
