Andy
I will be there with one of the race cars
Yes, looking forward to it, and there’ll be plenty of other MX5s if it is a similar turn out to the one in December
Our resident Stigs will be there offering tips and advice and a track walk at lunch time. It is very impresive to see how steep and long Paddock Hill is and have a look at the crest on the apex, unfortunately you then have to walk up to Druids, but it something you just don’t see from the car.
The site doesn’t explain much in regards to driving on it, but can anyone confirm that we’re allowed to drive our own cars on the track?
Beautiful, thanks for that!
Definitely up for this…!
I can’t call right now as I’m at work but can you clear up anything regarding insurance on track?
You don’t have to insure your car for a track day, there is no third party risk as there is on the road, obviously as your car is new and high value I would recommend it more over a MK1.
Track day insurance is derived from motorsport insurance where you are insuring your vehicle against eventualities, not against 3rd party risk. There are a number od specialist suppliers, Google Track Day insurance. We recommend REIS in Nottingham. 0115 965 1020. Tell them you are on a Mazda on Track day.
One off cover usually carries a premium of around 1% of the cars value with a 10% excess. Some insurance providers will include track day cover in the cost of your standard road premium, or add individual days for a reduced fee. If this is a bug you catch then it is worth looking at one of these polices and again this is something REIS can help you with.
On a positive, if you ever do need to call on it, the claim process is usually much simpler that a road accident clam at there is not third party liability to sort out, so payment and approval is quick.
Just wanted to say what a great it was, my first track day in a car and definately won’t be my last!
Was yours the turbo’ed car i instructed with in the afternoon ?.. if so , it was my favourite ride of the day … no turbo lag , nice and unsuspecting .
Yes it was, I don’t think my car has been revved or thrown around like that in a long time, can’t wait for the next lesson
I think I learn’t more in those 20 minutes than I would in a year with just me driving.
The turbo was fitted and owned by Abbey Motorsport for a while before I bought it.
Andy
thats the whole idea of taking instruction … you were picking up the pace quite nicely for someone who hadnt been on track before … and the car is spot on . … i would have gladly had a go … but then having seen the way i throw the race car about , probably a good idea i dont lmao . i would soon be bouncing it over the kerbs and stripping out the interior .
Your car is a great weapon andy , we will will soon have you imbarrasing hughly powered suburu’s,evos and porsches… in a stock looking mx5 . Great fun …its a great feeling when they have to lift on the straights to let you pass
