Breakdown / roadside recovery when you're deaf

My brother is profoundly deaf, which means he cannot use a phone to make calls. Sure he’s got a smartphone and can text and WhatsApp and do all the other stuff you can do on one. But using the phone to make voice calls is a not possible. They won’'t understand him due to his deaf accent and he can’t hear them. Please don’t get me started on TypeTalk, this was a good thing many moons ago but rarely supported these days. Does any breakdown recovery organisation cater for deaf people?
He’s never had such a service before, for the reasons above. But his Peugeot recently died and he’s now sold it as a non-runner, it was the usual wet belt failure problem which nixed the engine. I have of course advised him to replace it something more reliable and fun, like an MX5…:joy:
He’d like recommendations as to which roadside recovery organisation is the best for him given the above limitations. Any thoughts, comments, relevant experiences from the MX5OC gratefully received. Thanks in advance!

I don’t know whether it helps, but Green Flag allow you to request breakdown assistance via their app.

(They were also extremely helpful when my Z4M decided to break down in Le Mans, and BMW didn’t have stock anywhere in Europe of the pipe which had split!)

The AA also allow you to turn on the ‘Deaf or Hard of Hearing’ option in their app so they know you can only communicate via text.

Have a look here Get help fast when you break down by using our Autoaid app

I suspect all of them will be able to cater for your brother.

The RAC say this:

“The quickest way to report a breakdown is online.
Prefer to speak to us? Call 0333 2000 999. Lines are open 24/7……”

So looks like, provided he’s got WiFi or at least 4G (?) wherever/whenever he has broken down, then your brother and those with similar issues, should be catered for.
