Brembo callipers nc3

Hi

Has anyone fitted Brembo callipers on their nc with 17x7.5 et 55 rota blitz wheels?

Looking at the freaky parts ones

I know there is a template to try but just thought I would see if anyone has done this first

Thanks
Mark

What offset are the Rota’s you’re looking at

55 offset

I’m aware at that offset (which is OEM on an NC) you won’t get clearance.
In fact the Freaky website (and t’internet") tells you thus.

I’m about to (today actually) submit some Brembo’s to an outfit for a full strip down refurb and paint and they will grace the front of my NC1 in a short time.

Although I have many sets of OE wheels and tyres for various road/track use I currently only have one set that will clear the calipers. It’ll soon be time to open my pocket for more wheels.

I may, just for road use, utilise some spacers (25mm does clear NC hub studs) but will fit the correct offset wheels for track use to save over stressing the hub assembly.

Hi just checked and there et45

got 4 nearly new Pirelli P Zero 215/40x18 when you can’t get them under 17s

^^^Brembo calliper ??

The picture was just to show the wheels, tyres size has no relevance , it’s the clearance of the inside of the wheel, I’ll print out the template from freaky parts to see

i think its the rs megane brembo calipers that fit? but I may be wrong
I was also looking at floating piston calipers, willwood to be exact but I wasn’t too keen on spending about 2k on new calipers.
I did actually come across and buy (cheap enough) a set of rx8 calipers but in order to fit those I need to use bigger disks and again those calipers are of the sliding bracket design. Hopefully, with the bigger pads and larger disks the rx8 calipers will generate less heat thus I’m expecting the sliding rods to be in a better condition and not get stuck. what I don’t know is the effect of the bigger unsprung mass (because of the bigger disks) and what effect will have in handing as for me my car handles perfectly as is. The winmax w5 pads I have used there was no braking issues with the stock calipers but the calipers need servicing a lot more often and really I wanted a more permanent solution.

any info you could forward me that will save head-scratching would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Morning George,

Yeah, the calipers I have are from a Clio 197/200 and were also fitted to the Megane R25/26 from that era.
They are available pre-owned (which is where I picked up a pair) for less than 200 quid if you look around. Cos I’m a fussy ar$e, I’ve had them dipped and blasted and they are to be re-painted/re-sealed/re-stickered and re-nippled (is that a real word ?)
I have to pick up larger discs from a Mazda CX7 and carrier adapter brackets so they’ll fit to NC hubs.
Obvs, I’ll also have to get some pads (choices, choices) to finish the whole job off.
Total spend will around a grand or just over.
I appreciate that there will be a moderate increase in unsprung mass but the extremely light Brembo calipers should almost negate the increased weight of the larger discs (290mm vs 320mm)
Hope that helps :+1:

thanks. you ok using those on track with the brakets mate?

Yeah, it’s a fairly common upgrade I’ve learned and I know a couple of guys who use them.
The brackets aren’t massive so the load transfer is localised.
They’re apparently made from aircraft grade aluminium too …

thanks
