BRG paint codes in US and UK

Hello, I’m a new member and this is my first post in this forum. I hope I’m posting in the correct place

I’m the happy owner of a NB/Mk2 Miata/MX-5 in California, (but an ex-resident of the UK, long before I had any Miatas/MX-5s in the US).

I’ve noticed that the Mk2 Miata/MX-5 color known in the US as BRG is apparently different to the color known as BRG in the UK. I’m hoping some BRG owners in the UK could confirm or dispel my suspicions.

In the US the 1991 Special Edition Miata came in a dark green which had a paint color code HU. The is known in the US as British Racing Green, (BRG). It was a single stage paint, (no clear-coat), and was a dark “flat” green, i.e. no metallic or Mica flake. This 1991 Special Edition, (4000 cars) was the only BRG Mk1 Miata sold in the US, (though BRG was offered in other years in Canada).

In the US between 1999 and 2003 there was a dark green available which had a paint color code 18J. This is known and marketed as Emerald Green. This green has a metallic flake. It was the most commonly sold color on Mk2 Miatas.

In the US the 2001 Special Edition came in a dark green which had a paint color code A3V. The is known and marketed as British Racing Green. It is visually almost identical to HU (from 1991), in that it has no metallic flake, but it does have a clear coat. This A3V green, (i.e. BRG), is noticeably different than the 18J green, (i.e. Emerald Green).
The 2001 Special Edition, (3000 cars), was the only Mk2 Miata ever sold and marketed in the US as BRG.

From what I can tell, (and I’m hoping some UK owners can confirm or educate me if I’m wrong), in the UK the same paint color (HU) was used for all Mk1s marketed as BRG. For Mk1s I believe US and UK BRG is the same.
For Mk2s I believe, (based on what I’ve seen and read), that all BRG MX-5s in the UK were painted with color code 18J, (i.e. what is known as Emerald Green in the US). Is this correct?
Were any MX-5s ever sold in the UK painted with color code A3V?

One would have thought Mazda would use the term “BRG” to refer to the same color in different parts of the English speaking world, but apparently not. I guess Mazda US and Mazda UK do their own marketing independent of each other.

Thanks,
Ted.
