Bridgestone S001

  1. My model of MX-5 is: ND3 Homura
  2. I’m based near: Dorset
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Opinions on Bridgestones

Just picked up my 75 plate Homura having sold last one a few months back . To my surprise the standard fit Bridgestone Potenza S001s are a lot quieter than on the previous car ( a 23) amd also less “stiff” .

I didn’t think much of them on the last car but I have to say they seem pretty good now.

I can’t find anything to suggest it’s a new tyre, is it possible they have made some design changes? I read on one review a few months old that the noise levels now breached EU regs, but these are not noisy.

Grip and turn in are excellent , ride still slightly firm but much better than on the last car. I had planned to change the tyres ( got a friend with an MX 5 keen to buy them ) but now I’m not so sure .

I agree. I think they’re great. However, I think it’s almost a rite of passage for an owner to have an ND and say they don’t like the Bridgestones lol
The ones on my 2L had a near 7 year tyre date on them when I changed them, 16K miles and just under 3mm on the rears. I found them fine even then, but I thought I’d change them as I really like the tyre fitter I know- uber careful- and wanted to get a set on while he’s still there. I didn’t hesitate to buy the same tyres which I liked in the first place, rather than listening to the interent. I’ve done that on a number of occasions, sometimes it worked (PS4 on another car), and sometimes it failed miserably (PS5 on another car, which I think are awful, especially compared to their PS4 predecessor).
So my advice is stick with them if you like them
