Broken clip on retractable hood mechanism

On carrying out a routine inspection of the mechanism of the retractable hood I found a broken clip on the nearside

This is the intact clip on the offside

Anyone know the function of this clip,how important it is and how to go about getting a replacement?

I got the chance to look at my roof mechanism today for you, but cannot find the bit you pictured…
I know this probably looks like a stupid question, but were your photos taken with the roof up or down?

In order to inspect the mechanism you need to stop the top when it is half way up/down.
