Broken & Cracked supports near front suspension

Hi,

I have a 2013 NC that I’ve just noticed has some broken & cracked bracketry around the front suspension. As shown in the photos when looking up and forward from just behind the front wheel I can see the bracket on the drivers side is broken across with a fair chunk missing and the bracket on the passenger side has a sizeable crack in it around the same area.

I wondered if anyone knew what these brackets are called or even better the Mazda part number as I surely need to get some new ones fitted.

I don’t know how long they have been like this but from my position of ignorance it doesn’t really feel safe to be driving around like this - so I would also be interested in any opinions on how vital these brackets are and how serious it would be if one broke and the mounting near the crack/broken section became detached? Just to give me a sense of how big a hole I’m in.

many thanks

John

Is the cracking not just on the plastic shields?

As Robbie suggests it’s just the plastic infill panels cracked. They aren’t anything to be concerned about safety wise, just a plastic panel. They’ll have a part number on so should be available from a Mazda dealer.

Ah, thanks guys - I assumed they were metal but hadn’t been able to get under the car to investigate more closely. Makes sense as I wondered/was worried what sort of impact it would have taken to do that damage to steel.

Melt a Lego brick in acetone to form a repair paste.
Works on Motorcycle fairings - should work on car plastics too.
