Broken Fan Sensor wire (How to resolve)

Last night, I noticed that the Electric Fan Control switch wire had broken at the connector
. There was nothing left sticking out to re solder the wire to so I set about the repair as follows........
1.     Stripped back about 25mm at the end of the broken wire and solder tinned the end.
2.     Removed the connector.
3.     Removed the switch from the thermostat.
4.     Tinned the terminal in the switch.
5.     Soldered a 100mm piece of wire to the broken wire and covered the join with Heatshrink.
6.     Replaced the switch into the 'stat.
7.     Soldered the other end of the 100mm wire to the terminal
8.     Covered the join with Heatsrink.
9.     Filled the top of the switch with clear hot glue.
10    Tested.....OK
This seems now to be more sturdy and should be more durable than the original design.
