Brush for use on ND soft top?

Hi everyone… Can anyone recommend a good quality brush to use on my ND soft top to remove dust, hair and other loose grime etc?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

The wife’s toothbrush? Sorry we’re not being very helpful!

To try and be a bit more helpful, I use a hoover with a soft brush attachment on my NC. I found that brushing alone just moved the problem to another area. You don’t want anything too stiff that might damage the fabric. I always wash mine with a Ph neutral detergent and dry it with a microfibre towel, still looks as good as new but it is garaged.

Sorry - I will get my coat!!!

I believe that Autoglym do one, but I think a google search is in order as you do not want one too abrasive…

Am loving the brilliant suggestions so far…! :joy:

That’s far better than mine :joy::joy:

You gave me the idea…it was a logical progression!

I use the one on the end of the vacuum cleaner hose. Anything else will probably just move it around or send it down into the tub and the drains.

I haven’t actually washed the roof for ages, it lives in a garage (or under a half cover) and when I wash the bodywork I just dry off the hood with a microfibre cloth. When it’s properly dry I vac it now and then.

I’ve got the Autoglym soft top cleaner/protect and can really vouch for the quality of it- brings up the fabric beautiful without bleaching the colour and the protect stuff really helps keep the worst of the rain out. A quick going over with the car vac first works fine

As “PHILC 1” and “John_M” I use a vac with the small brush attachment to lift the dust and dirt. I wash it with baby shampoo applied with a 4" paint brush and then rinsed with a water jet from the garden hose, I do not use a pressure washer, I remove excess water with micro-cloths and let the sun and air finish the job

I use a vacuum cleaner on mine. It works very well.

Mine doesn’t get that dirty (NC) but if I need to clean it I am just wet it and wipe over with a microfibre cloth.

Seen quite a few mention using microfibre cloths - Don’t they leave any cloth particles behind afterwards?

No, not at all. I use microfibre cloths for waxing/polishing/drying and cleaning the inside of the soft top. The whole point of them is that they don’t leave any fluff or streaks. I bought some extra ones off Amazon the other week and have no complaints

Although, if you buy any of the Autoglym kits, you’ll usually get one or two microfibre cloths included

Thanks for that… I got a pack from Amazon a few months back for the polishing duties, but will give the hood a go sometimes - It’s not even dirty tbh.
Back in the days when I valeted cars professionally, 80’s and 90’s it was all rolls of mutton cloth

Aye, should do the job nicely. I’d still maybe recommend sealing it with a product of your choice, just to stop water seeping through. You might find rain on the seats and/or splodgy marks on the inside of the roof otherwise. If so, just use a microfibre cloth damp with soapy water to clean then dry off

Is only 2 and a half years old and the winter snow didn’t get in…! Good advise though and thanks again!

Maybe here you could find something interesting, these lads show how to clean and protect soft top, and they recommend few good products.
