could anyone please advise what bhp a 1995 mx5 California model posses, and does it have a slip differential, any advise would be greatly appreciated. also what insurance company would you recommend to insure the car on classic insurance. any answers to the above would be welcome.
Im fairly sure the California has the 1.8 engine so that could be 130bhp.
I doubt very much it will have a limited slip differential.
It may have had a LSD diff fitted in the past, jack it up on the rear and have a look at the drive shafts and diff, take a pic if possible, the is a guide knocking about somewhere with pics.
I will try find the link for the diff spotters guide.
Is this the same California Mk1 that you currently have for sale, but I see no mention there of the car being in extended storage? Californias were basically base 1.8i models, in a special colour order, so no LSD.
It has the earlier 1.8 motor; 125-28hp, depending on the source. Later 1.8s have a little more power.
Having owned one for quite a few years previously, as stated above.
Base model 1.8 with the low compression engine (8.8:1) additions Yellow paint, power steering and 15" alloys
