Can anyone recommend a good alloy wheel repairer?

Hi all,

So, my wife of 3 weeks (not sure we’ll make it to 4) managed to kurb one of my alloys this morning.

…well, when I say “kurb”, I’m surprised she didn’t snap the steering rack. It’s bad. I could cry.

Could anyone recommend an alloy repair service in West London or the South West? I did some reading and it sounds like there are some real cowboys around, including ones that will come and pick your wheels up from your house and leave your car on axle stands for weeks!

Many thanks!

You may find it cheaper to source a second hand alloy, plenty tucked away in garages for just incase.

I have four mint 5 spokers in my garage and would let them go individually for the price of a refurb, and with the confidence they are unmolested, and with good tyres.

Check e-bay.

Example.

Sorry, I don’t know of any off-hand, although other area members might be able to help.
I have had some alloys refurbished but this was at Little Knocks in Wokingham (as I live over in Berkshire). They did a good job if you are struggling to find anywhere.

Lepsons in Gillingham, they repair stuff that I thought was scrap. They’ll collect & return by carrier as well.

Another vote for Lepsons, bought a set of Sport wheels on ebay for £57, they refurbed them and they look like this

Yes! thumbs up for Lepsons, they repaired the set of black 17" alloys that I purchased second hand, and repainted they in silver, perfect finish.

Thanks all, I’ll get in touch with Lepsons and see what they can do, although I may wait until the front tyres need changing and ask them to swap the tyres too.

I had a look at buying a second hand wheel as safetymatch recommended, but couldn’t find any of the “5 split spoke” (pic below is undamaged) design that my 5 has at a reasonable price.

Just got a price for all four alloys refurbished by Mobile alloy wheel Refurbishment, it appears to be a National firm with local franchises. Have a freephone no. 0800 1077 926.

Have not used this company as yet so cant give any other information

I hope it’s not too late, but this company has done some great work for us.

They are very helpful and do a brilliant job not only repairing alloy wheels, but actually recolouring them to any spec.

Best wishes

Jim

Lepsons is a definite

Couldnt agree more…They are the BEST by quite a margin

Used them a couple of times

I am told Alloygator rim protectors are very good although never needed them myself.
My godson fits loads in the Stratford on Avon area.

I have used the Wheel specialist a couple of times now and well impressed with them. All four wheels done in a day and a 12 month guarantee

Yep, one more for Lepsons here. Not the cheapest but absolute top quality. Had some old daisys done there and they came up fantastic as you can see. While i was there i asked for club discount which they didnt do at the time but after a short chat with the sales manager she has now applied this. You will need to show your club card as proof of membership. 10% off

Bit late but try wheel x change Westminster rd Hanwell. Ask for Andy. . Done my wire wheels . Brilliant job.

Just come across this thread.  Not sure where you are located but when I had my mk3 I used a brilliant little fellow who visited you at your home or work, made your painted alloy look like new again and charged very little.

His details are:

Lee Brown, Cell:  07747 041313.

Usually you send him an image of the damage and he will quote you before arrival.

Failing that, I agree Lepsons in Gillingham are the best but can be a pain in the backside having to remove the wheel and wait. They know how to charge too, but a great job nevertheless.   I just bought a 200 mile only used set of Mazda 17" alloys & tyres for my MX-5 off PistonHeads. So I guess I can damage mine 4 times??  I hope not!
