Can anyone tell me what bolts are used on the door bushings for the NC1?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC1
  2. I’m based near:
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Bolts used on door bushings.

So I wanted to replace the door bushings today and the bolts have committed rusticide.

Can anyone please tell me what bolts are used on the bushings as I want to source some good quality stainless ones to prevent that from happening again.

If anyone reading this has any good past experience with a certain brand type of bolt I’d really appreciate to know what it is and where to get it. Thank you!

Previously I bought bolts from Amazon and they were awful.

Have you already bought replacement bushings?

Just that the Rob Bate version include new bolts and are the best version I’ve found for the NA/NB/NC.

I have new bushings but they unfortunately didn’t come with bolts.

I ended up going with this. Should have me covered for a bit.

I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago.
From the odds and sods rack at the back of Halfords.

Which bushings did you buy?

There’s been a lot of debate on the board and elsewhere about bushings from ‘snake oil’ to ‘totally transformed the car’; you can find some of it here and here.

I 3D printed my own and experimented a bit with fit and have been running with the pair I found best for the last couple of years. I found they did make a difference; the car felt tighter, especially on long curves.
Possibly, as suggested at the time the same could be achieved by just replacing with new OEM ones but I’m happy with what I’ve got.

Yep, well aware of the discussions. In my opinion the Rob Bate version are superior to the OEM version.

Just from a nicer door shutting action, let alone any other of the aforementioned potential, or perceived, benefits.

Thank you for sharing that dude. Much appreciated. :+1:

Cravenspeed had a special on some red bushings. My door sills are so battered from the previous owner with not watching if the seatbelt had been left where the door could slam close on it. In my mind I thought now I’ve sort of fixed the seatbelt pulley, if I replaced the current black bushings with red then it would divert my attention to check before I or my passenger closes the door. That’s what I hope anyway.

I was not aware. I’ll take a look. :+1:
