Recently picked up my 1999 blue 1.8 Sport from a fellow forum user. the car is great and drives like a dream however I have a small mystery box with 0-9 and # * inside the center console storage area. I’m struggling to woto out what it is as there is no information in the handbook or the documents I was provoded. I’m guessing it’s aftermarket as it looks like they have run wires up into the console and stick it down with adisive. I’m scared to play with it incase it’s the imobilers and I have no codes ect.
Iv iv attached a photo of any one recognises it please letme know
Looks like something to do with a phone, just going on the star and hash symbols, along with the number pad. Other than that I haven’t a clue as to what/why?
No matter how much I fiddled with the sensitivity control which was buried in the console, the mongrel thing jammed starting the car if it was within spitting distance of hidden mobile power masts…which are everywhere. In my case it meant 8 key areas in my town which were no go parking areas.
I’m assuming this has been turned off as no flashing led when I press buttons and no fob for remote. The car has a separate romote locking system on it which I belive was installed after however this is all an educated guess.
Thank youfor for your help guys , think il be investing in new alarm then
This looks like the thing we had stock to the windscreen on the wifes megane.
It was the manual over ride for a sigma alarm.
In the event that you had to open the car using the key instead of the fob, then the alarm would go off.
This box would allow a 4 digit code to override.
I contacted the previous owner who couldn’t remember the code.
There were instructions in the book, which showed how to reset it, using a combination of key in out, six times, shake it all about, lock the doors, unlock, but i couldn’t do ours, so in the end i paid an alarm company, to reset it to something that we could remember
The box is exactly the same as the one on my Subaru Impreza Turbo.
My car was fitted as factory standard with a Sigma alarm and the keypad was for overriding the alarm in the event of you losing your fob. If I remember correctly you had to enter the car using the key and press the four digit code to stop the alarm going off.
The * and # keys were for changing the code to your own preference but I can’t remember the sequence exactly, as it was years ago and all the paperwork went with the car when it was sold.
