Continuing the discussion from Aerial on MX-5:
- My model of MX-5 is: __mk 3.5 Myako
- I’m based near: __Manchester
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _ is the existing standard aerial on my MX-5 mk 3.5 good enough to receive DAB RADIO.i can receive FM ok but no DAB radio transmissions? Do I need to change the aerial?
Basically the answer is no.
Someone has replaced the rear wing mounted aerial for one suitable to receive DAB and wired it through to the head unit, maybe they’ll see the post and advise.
My way of getting DAB is via a screen mounted aerial, plenty of those on the market.
Remove A pillar trim inside the car and feed the wire down the pillar up to the head unit. You need to make an earth by removing paint and sticking the earth point down on the pillar.
Other aerials available, sometimes it’s trial and error with aerials, I’m on my second one the first didn’t seem too good.
Thanks very much for your advice. I saw on the internet an aerial looking just like the standard MX-5 aerial except it had an extra lead for DAB reception. I may get one of those but will also look at the possibility of installing a screen mounted aerial as you described. Thanks again for your help.
