Can I use a heavy duty deisel battery in my MX5 (when it arrives)?

 Hi again

I have a heavy duty diesel battery in my astra at the moment as I wanted a little bit more power and I was wondering would I be able to use this heavey duty battery in my MX5 2.5?

Just swap them out.

I know I will need the radio code etc as this will be lost along with the radio stations programmed.

Will anything else need reprogramming?  I know I keep going back to my astra but one of the things I had to alays do was pair the keyfob back to the car as the electric windows wouldn’t go up when I inserted the key in the lock.

I’d have thought you would have a bit of trouble fitting a largish battery in the same place as the original and there’s no reason you can’t use it, but then again there’s no need for a heavy lump of battery either.

The electrical components will only draw as much power as they need and the engine should start instantly anyway, so you won’t improve anything by using it.

Getting it physically into the space will be the problem for sure!

I’m sure you will find a way of shoe-horning it into the boot somehow but check out whether or not the standard MX5 alternator will be able to cope with a larger capacity battery.
