Anyone found a decent can opener recently. I had an electric one back in the day (like off of the opening scene of Back to the Future) which was ace but apparently tacky and we didn’t have space in the kitchen for it but now I can’t seem to find a manual one that’s actually any good. Do I go back to electric or can someone recommend a genuinely good manual one?
I hate can openers, we seem to go through one every few months, they are poorly made and don’t last 5 minutes. Even ones which look well made turn out to be rubbish.
Then about a year ago, my wife bought one from Asda with a 5 year guarantee.
Still going strong a year later.
Great topic!
Got a good one recently from Ikea, working well does what it says on the label…not opened a can of worms with it thankfully
^^Same here, £5 and it works great^^
Before I purchased the Ikea opener I was using a very sharp penknife I use on camping trips…never fails
There used to be a guy at a factory I worked at (he was built like Popeye) who could open a tin of beans with a desert spoon.
Caveat: Tanya needs to be able to use it too.
I went through a few rubbish manual ones, but now I have an OXO and it’s wonderful OXO Softworks Soft Handled Can Opener | Dunelm
I still do,
mainly because the ring pull is too stiff for aged arthritic fingers, and the spoon handle is an excellent lever…
I can smell the hexi from here… usually followed by someone asking me, ‘You brought your pocket knife, right?’
