Car alarm set off by mobile phone

  1. My model of MX-5 is: _mk3 ventura
  2. I’m based near: North west
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __If i leave my phone in the car it sets the alarm off, any suggestions?

This is well documented. I would avoid leaving your phone in the car. If you have to then switch it off.

Thanks for swift reply, didn’t know so common? Does turning phone off if left in car stop it alarming then?

Yeah, its the signal to the phone which interferes with the sensor, many (myself included) have suffered this issue!

Think of it as a positive that no other car has - its an alarm to warn you that you forgot your phone in your car!

Think I read that your phone signal is pick up by a microwave device under the center consol. I think this device is part of the car alarm system.
You could try your phone in airplane mode.

As Coconino said, this is well known. Safer just to pick your phone up and take it with you, otherwise the “beep beep beep” will just keep on firing away.

Yep, the album module is just underneath the rear centre cubby hole… Where I put my phone if I’m using CarPlay!

Also useful to note, this also happens if you have a mobile WiFi dongle plugged in via usb, which I had when I had a Chinese android head unit…!
