This is deffo a possibility. The ‘crank no start’ I mentioned earlier was an internal broken connection within a connector at the fuel pump, but could have happened anywhere in the loom. It shut down the complete fuelling for the engine as it was the live feed to the fuel pump but didn’t throw up a fault code!
There is still a place for the humble multimeter😀
I’ve replaced the CAS and the car runs now. However, when I go to check the ignition timing I cannot see the marks on the crank pulley when using the timing light. I can feel it and have painted it in fluorescent paint but it’s just not visible. It can’t be that far off since it runs perfectly fine and I’ve made sure the adjustment on the CAS is pretty much the same as the old one but I just want to make sure.
Is there anything that can cause the marking on the pulley to be misaligned?
I’ve heard of the outside of the pulley moving in relation to the boss. Remove number 1 spark plug, put a long screwdriver down the hole and rest it on the piston crown then carefully turn the crank so the position is at the top of its stroke, as indicated by screwdriver movement, then look at where your timing mark is.
