CAR MECHANICAL SECURITY

What type of car security do you use apart from alarm/ Immobiliser, what is the best device a steering wheel disc lock or one that fits the pedals & steering wheel,do they do one for a automatic car for the pedals?does it matter if it’s a wood steering wheel.Undecided

One of these steering wheel locks, a Stoplock Professional, a highly visible deterrent, but it has to live in the boot when not protecting the car because it is too long to go under a seat (also I don’t want to disturb wiring etc).

My Az review shows a picture of it in situ in the NC.

Pedal locks are neater and smaller, but a pain to fit if one is not a contortionist, and not often visible from outside the car.  The thief wastes a few minutes breaking in and then gets p…d off because he cannot nick it, so he then also vandalises the car out of spite instead of simply walking on by to pick an easier target.

I use one of these, sling it in the boot or in the passenger footwell;http://www.disklokuk.co.uk/shop/disklok/

I also use a Stoplock Professional. Whilst it performs well in tests every type of steering wheel security device can be defeated given sufficient time. More of a visual deterrent.

I find that I can slide it under the passenger seat alongside the transmission tunnel on my Mk3.
