Car security, disc wheel lock?

I was not sure where to post but thought I would ask here.

I am looking for opinions on the best steering wheel security device such as disk lock etc, I realise anything can be overcome with force and time.

What if any have you fitted?

I’ve got a Disklok, owned that for over 20 years & used it on 4 cars during that period.

Very well made, highly visible, substantial & seems very secure - well worth the initial outlay in my opinion.

I remember that a friend once had a Fiesta RS Turbo, protected by a “Stoplock”; following theft of the car from his driveway (the Fiesta was also blocked in by another vehicle, which the thieves simply broke into & moved out of the way), the Stoplock was all that remained - located halfway up a tree in his front garden.  After recovery of the car he purchased a Disklok & had no further theft attempts.

Thanks Andy,

Good to know, I have a couple of cars I could use it on so a worthwhile investment.
Every product claims to be good enough so appreciate any views.

Regards

When I had my M3, and they were vulnerable to being stolen via the OBD2 socket (before BMW did a recall), the only security device recommended on all the forums was the Disklok.

It’s a seriously well built piece of kit, and fairly quick to install/remove (which means that it does actually get used). It’s also highly visible, so acts as a deterrent.

Also considering the Stoplok Pro but would that be effective in a soft top car?

The problem with the ‘bar’ types is that they can all be defeated by cutting the steering wheel.

Owners of older Land Rovers, which are guaranteed to disappear if not protected, use Diskloks.

Having said that, the Stoplok Pro seems to be head and shoulders the best of its type and should give a reasonable level of deterrence on an MX-5 which don’t seem to be anywhere near as heavily targeted.
