- My model of MX-5 is: NC1 2006
- I’m based near: South West
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: CL vs PBS pad comparisons
Hi All
We’ve been running Carbone Lorraine (CL) RC6 pads in the front of the track car for a while now. We destroyed every other type of pad we tried (EBC Yellows lasted about 3/4 of a day). The CL pads have been great, they’ve transformed the car in the braking zones from an unpredictable nightmare to a consistent and well performing stopper.
In the never ending drive for options, though, we’ve elected to get a pair of Performance Brake Solutions (PBS) Pro-Race pads to try out to see what they’re like. We’ll probably chuck them in the car for the track day at Oulton Park to give them a whirl.
I was wondering ahead of that whether anyone on here had experience of using either or both pads and what the general consensus was? I note from the PBS website that a lot of the teams in the 750 MC use them, including the Area Motorsport cars, so they must be decent. I’m not sure i’ve ever spoken to anyone else who uses the CL pads (although I may well be proved be wrong)
The PBS pads are about £50 cheaper I think by the looks of it, which is probably why the old man wants to try them out
Anyway, any thoughts gratefully received.
