Carbonmiata LED taillights - which version?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: Euphonic
  2. I’m based in Sunderland
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Carbonmiata LED Taillights

Hi,

Im looking at buying the new sequential LED Taillights by Carbonmiata. (https://www.carbonmiata.com/shop/mazda-mx-5/nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5/exterior-parts-nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5-nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5/tail-lights/sequential-led-tail-lights-for-miata-nb-mk2/). However i cannot decide between clear and smoked. I have a Euphonic model (Velocity Red) and I cant decide which would be best. Does anyone have any photos or videos of the smoked version on a red car?

Thanks!

Hello Lewis, those tail lights look amazing. This is the first time I’ve seen these so thanks for sharing the link.
Re:colour choice. That’s going to be largely subjective and everyone will feel differently.
Ultimately the only choice that matters is yours. Personally I would choose red on your car but a set of smoked lenses would look good if you painted the area between them a satin black.
One thought that crossed my mind is legality in the UK market.
This may not be an issue for some but it might be worth researching before you pull the trigger if it’s of concern to you.
I hope you can share photos of the ones you go for when you get them installed. :crossed_fingers: :+1: :ok_hand:

Cheers,
Guy

wont be e marked, but most people would get away with that. No fog light will be a problem

Hi thanks for input guys.

They are a cracking set of lights for a good price. I was originally thinking of the red set as they do match a little better in my head with the red colour.

I am well aware of the legality and the answer is they aren’t legal, unfortunately. Due to the lack of rear fog light and e marking. However, I would likely get away with no e marking. Since they are literally plug and play with no wiring, I can probably get away with either carrying around my old lights in case of fog or not driving on foggy days. Luckily I work from home so driving is not essential for me and it becomes much less of a problem.

I asked Carbon Miata, a while back, if they are planning on producing a fog light version. They said they are looking at the feasibility of doing so. I will ask again before I purchase as I would likely trade in their current set for a new set with fogs if it gets done.

These may split opinions!

I would go for red, personally.

You could always fit an external fog light…
