We’ve just had a weekend away in Cumbria, and yesterday spent a lovely sunny afternoon in Keswick. Whilst in Keswick I remembered about the car museum there. We’d come across it a few years ago when there with the kids, but it was late in the day and had closed. Anyway, we decided to have a look this time round, and I was quite looking forward to it. It is called ‘Cars of the Stars’ being a large collection of famous cars from TV and Film.

What a blow when we got to the door to see this sign…

I’ve since had a look at their web site, and it really seems quite sad that such an interesting collection has gone across the Pond.
If your interested in what we’ve missed (or maybe you didn’t ?) take a look at the unbelieveble vehicle list on the web site http://www.carsofthestars.com/cotsidx.html which also gives the circumstances in which the cars were acquired.
Quote from the website: .In 1982, while filming the television series “The Spoils of War” Granada Television approached Keswick painter and sculptor, Peter D Nelson and asked if they could borrow his MG TC for use in their production. It was as a result of this that several years later Mr Nelson conceived the idea of building a motor musuem, featuring celebrity television and film vehicles. After purchasing the Royal Oak Garage in the centre of Keswick, which required total refurbishment, he began a two year search for cars with film and television connections and the dream finally became reality when this unique museum opened to the public on 1st May 1989.
