anybody used this?
if so what do you reckon as its £17.50 for 4lts.

I always use Castrol GTX 10W-40, which every couple of months (usually September is one of them) is dropped to £10 for 4lts in Asda. I’ve bought this at this reduced price on three separate occaisons now so will be looking out for it again over the next month or so.
I have used Magnatec on previous cars, but as oil filters are so cheap it’s a no-brainer to change the oil every six months, so I figure the GTX does a good job, with two oil changes a year coming to about £26 total!
However, Magnatec is promoted as ‘protecting from the moment you turn the key’, so if you feel this is worth the extra then that’s the choice you have to make - however, as most of us are driving cars around 20 years old with no real evidence of any problems caused through not having the engine magnetically lubricated for that split second prior to engine ignition I feel safe not using it.
Stupid computer of mine always sort of stalls when I go to reply to a post on this forum, and I start typing only to find my words aren’t going anywhere. For some reason its decided to post a blank reply even though it kept a reply page open.

Magnatec A1 is what I use and I am very happy with it. You should bear one thing in mind though.
The 5W-30 A1 is at the thin end of the 30 grade viscosity range. With the older engines generally 10W-40 is recommended presumably because of wear so moving to A1 is a quite a step but I think if your engine doesn’t burn much oil then the A1 will do fine.
Castrol also do the 5W-30 A3 oil (also on offer I think), and this is at thick end of the 30 grade.
The bit about molecules sticking to the metal is no doubt true but probably no more so than any other manufactures oil, it’s just marketting puff, and certainly not magnetic!

Yep that’s the latest fully synth Ford WSS-M2C-913-C spec oil.
I use Mobil’s version 3000FE which is £23.99 when it’s on offer for 5L which is handy for the Mk3 and Mazda 6 as they need over 4L on a change,
