Central locking does my car have remote central locking?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __nc1 1.8
  2. I’m based near: __east yorkshire
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __central locking

Just acquired a 2006 nc1 1.8 which has only one basic key. The key opens the doors, boot and starts the car so basic central locking works. Should it have remote central locking with a flip style key? How can I check?

I’ve never heard of a MK3 that doesn’t, so I’d have to say yes.

My 2002 NB had it, so I can’t believe later cars would not?..

…sounds like you are missing the key fob?..I only got one with mine (NB) from new but managed to get a spare of fleabay that was simple enough to program

Should be at least one like this, a pair normally.

My 2006 nc1 2.0 sport has two flip type keys but was just wondering did the base 1.8 nc1 only have key operated central locking?

@Spelio
All the mk3 range have remote key fobs… there are many threads on this forum for places where you can purchase them, just do a search…

There are companies that will supply and reprogram remotes for you.

Sounds like the person you bought the car from lost the cars remote(s).

People like this https://www.remotefobcentre.com/ have good reviews etc
