Yeah I checked that after I posted, but figured it’s worth a shot.
I’ve since found out that the centre is actually pretty easy to remove - Just remove the shift gaiter + surround, undo 2 x screws under there, then the centre console can be lifted off. Just be sure to disconnect the cables for the stereo controls.
Think I’m gonna give this a go!

I removed the console.
I have however now taken the wrap off as it started to lift after a few years and was looking tacky. If I was to do it again then I would probably glue down the edges.
I brought it on ebay a few years ago.

I’ll give it a go this weekend. I doubt I’ll glue down the edges the first time, but if I find myself having to do it again in a few years, I’ll consider doing it then.
