Changing brake bleed screw

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __ 2008 2.0 Sport

I need to change one bleed screw. My question is, once I get the old one off, can I expect an outpouring of fluid or just a manageable trickle. Obviously, I will have the new screw ready to go on immediately.

If you clamp the brake line that goes into the calliper, that should stop a lot of fluid coming out. Some will still come out, though, so you’ll need to top up the fluid and bleed the brakes afterwards.

Manageable trickle as it’s not under pressure.

Thanks guys. So, no fear that the reservoir will quickly empty then?

No, but put put your finger over the open end when you remove the old one and have the new one easily to hand so you can get hold of it easily with your other hand.
Put the old one down carefully where you can quickly pick it up again just in case the new one does not fit.

Nipple is the word you’re after.

Clingfilm over the top of the reservoir filler, put cap back on… But as said, clamp off the hose.

You’ll have the mods on your case…
