its strange!
i get called a conspiracy thoerist and yet i keep getting proved correct!

these days the difference between conspiracy theory and fact is about 6 months!

so yeah, i dont deal in conspiracy theory, i deal in conspiracy fact!

i could make a very long list of conspiracy theorys that have been proved fact over time.
but sadly it would all be political and would very likely be taken down by the mods and if it wasnt taken down it would very likely get people very very angry and upset when they find out just how much they have been lied too and manipulated by mainstream media and goverments!

apologies i have a nasty habit of not taking to the time to fully explain things.
also due to dislexia and lack of education i have a tendency to misuse terms and definitions.

however if you point out the contridictions i shall endevour to be my best to explain and disspell them!

im guessing you think that when i said storytelling be ok but soaps are not is a contradiction?

well it isnt. the reason it isnt is because when i say storytelling i am talking about classical storytelling that in part of the human experience and help us to learn and teach’s us about life and how to descern good from bad
you have probably heard of the heros journey, which is just one form of classic storytelling.

now on to soaps. soaps are storys but are not classical storytelling.
soaps are mostly about 1 thing and 1 thing only. that thing being sex and who is having it with who, who is cheating on who, etc
it is not instructional!
it is mindnumbing garbage designed to distract and keep people docile!
it is also bad for society as it normalises infidelity, single parenthood, teen pregancy and people having multiple children by multipul partners, etc.

classical story telling, which is thousands of years old, instructs against ALL of that soap opera garbage!

and so hopfully you now see that there is no condradiction when i say that storytelling is ok but soaps are not!

anyway
thanks for listening!

I fear this post will be on its way to being locked soon, so I wasn’t intending to reply. However, since I said about contradiction, it was the comment about not owning a TV, which you may well don’t, but then the implied point that you therefore don’t watch TV, to be followed by all the exceptions you make. Paraphrasing as “TV is terrible and I refuse to watch it because it is only for brain dead people, well apart from the things I think aren’t terrible, which makes me clever.”
I think you will find there is plenty of sex, debauchery other scandalous story lines in classical Greek and Roman stories and mythology. Shakespeare wasn’t averse to it either, and there were a few heaving breasts in the Bronte family.
As for conspiracies, one of the “joys” of the internet is that you can find “stories” to support any version of truth you want to believe. There are people that still hold up Andrew Wakefield as the truth.

Keeping it lighthearted, any particular channels We should be watching.:wink::joy:

I think the classical Homer Simpson channel is a good one!

I used to watch Grand Designs, but it seems to have gone to explaining the lives and hardships of the owners troubled past, rather than the design and construction of the building.
Soaps and daytime TV…Jeez, life is too short for that stuff.
But The Simpsons…Now you’re talkin’!!
The real world is out there, go and see it with your top down👍.

If I wanted politics, I’d go on Twitter. Would you like my opinion on Dorres and her crack-pot plans? On Boris? Probably not! This has no place here. Go drive your MX-5!

An unusual first time post/comment.
I don’t think many of us are on Twitter. :man_shrugging:
We don’t do politics, (Forum rules).
It’s a Forum (a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged) where we can all (as adults) give an opinion.
The “Poster” asked us for our thoughts and what we think about it, so we have.
I don’t know the poster and have never met him. But, I do like him and enjoy some of what he says, but not always agree with.
That’s life. :slightly_smiling_face:
If someone says something which someone disagrees with, then they are entitled to say so and should say so, politely of course.
Of course we don’t always agree. At the end of the day if we do, we generally agree to disagree,(well I do anyway and move on).
I hope and think we all like a joke and light hearted humour and hopefully it’s NOT at any one’s expense or indeed intended to offend them.
We can’t drive our 5’s all the time.
All the best.

A fine line between discussion and argument.

The line is usually crossed when someone represents their unproven belief as fact.

We can disagree without being disagreeable.

Play nicely people.

This is true, we also take a dim view of ad hominem attacks, keep to the subject and generally you’re fine, when you start attacking the person posting that’s not on.

This thread is on fairly thin ice though hasn’t fallen through quite yet.

Sorry if my post was off key and no offence intended to the OP. Better if I confine myself to the car-related sections of the forum in future I think.

With you on that. A good rule to have in my opinion. But there is a bit of a problem here.

It’s the government that have announced that they are planning to sell Channel 4. The general consensus on here is between don’t care and don’t like the idea.

So a number of us are expressing our concerns and doubts about the actions of a political party. So is this a political argument?

Hopefully we can discuss matters like this without crossing the line. Disagreeing with the actions of a party or member of that party can be done without personal attacks or derogatory comments.

I’m not defending any party or individual MP. I’m not exactly enamoured by any of the parties at the moment.

No Channel 4 = no Hollyoaks - that would be a travesty

Well maybe not

i think that is somewhat of a misrepresentation of my veiws.

now i did say if you point to any contridictions i would do my best to explain them.

i have not had a tv set for 4 years now
but i did own and watch tv for most of my 42 years before that.
my main reason for not owning a tv is that i refuse the pay the lisence fee and dont want to get done for not doing so.
obviously i do have a PC and internet with which i watch movies, online or dvd and documentries.

as to the conspiracy thing, i get called a conspiracy theorist but in truth what i am is a follower / reader of investagative journalists, such as chris hedges, micheal c ruppert (now sadly passed away) and max blumenthol.
these people specialise in uncovering things that the mainstream media simply will not report on!
things like the hunter biden laptop! that has finnally, a year and a half to late, been acknoledged as being real and not a russian propganda op!

anyway once again please accept my apologies for not explaining things well!
i am trying to keep it breif and hopfully without kicking over a hornets nest!

EDIT i have no idea why my text went from normal to bold and then back to normal!!!
again apologies, i did try to put it right but it wasnt happening for me???

EDIT AGAIN for clarification
i got rid of my tv because i didnt want to pay the lisence fee and in the 4 years since i have come to the opinion that most of what is on the tv is garbage that i can happily live without!

and as for me thinking that im clever!!! NO
Not at all!
and just to drive the point home!
il remind everyone that i deliver pizzas for a living!! in an MX5!
and so whenever you think about me, the phrase “thicker than 2 short planks” should always be at the back of your mind
