I’ll be there too around 8pm.

I’ll be in my NC2 - come and say hello I don’t bite

I have a black MK1 …an oldie but in good order. Owner not so fortunate.

Nowt wrong with that. They’re all 5s after all. I had a black Mk1 too - loved it. Here it is…

Nice photo.

Very classy

Any idea where in the Thurrock services we are due to meet?

No idea - although a gaggle of mx5s will give it away

I met there once for a club run to Brooklands and everyone met in the main services car park - so will head for there rather than the petrol station.

Ok

I’m afraid I’m a last minute cancellation.

Max isn’t roadworthy at the moment. A stuck and then sheared wheelnut meant I had to drill out the stud during the week. The promised replacement stud from Mazda hasn’t materialised, so I only have three wheels on my wagon at the moment.

My apologies - have a good time everyone, drive safe - see you at the next one.

That’s a shame.

Good luck with sorting it.

See you on the next occasion.

Many thanks John for organising last night. A great fun night and a very worthy cause. Lovely to see everyone. Home by 2.30am, Pearl was in her element ! x

Did it stay dry for everyone and are there any pics ?

Dry but a tad chilly.

There seem to be lot of pics on facebook. I’m sure some will make there way on here soon.

A great night, lots of new faces and who would have guessed so many MGTF’s were still around!

Thanks John for all your hard work, lets see if we can get even more 5’s there next year!

Hi Paul and all of the 44 MX5’ers YES! thats how many brave souls there were, from a Total of 162 cars…Damien Jennings has taken several MX5 member photos and when he sorts them all out I will post again along with the FULL list of those who braved the cold night air, in the meantime here are a few figures on what has been raised so far…First a very special thanks to the Kent Region member Grant Rudge who alone raised over £1000 by going TOPLESS!..

Based on the donations from the just giving site:

MX5 Total £2840

On the Night and yet to be paid in£2386, makes around £6000

MX5’ers and MG’ers Group Photo

A brilliant drive last night organised for Solent Area by John & Patricia - well done both!

44 MX5’s was an impressive number, as indicated in Johns previous post and it was good to see everyone. Meeting up with South central on route round the M25 worked like clockwork and we all then made the pilgrimage to Thurrock, our start point, noting that others had gone straight to South Mimms but we met them there after our brief stop at Thurrock for the obligatory loo stop and supper - by way of Burger King

On arrival at South Mimms it was easy to find everyone, as we could see in the darkness a figure outlined in white LED’s who was waving is arms and walking up and down the rows of MG’s and MX5’s. It was very effective and he said it took him hours to sow the LED’s onto the black bolier suit, which I quite beleive but a fantastic effect.

The figures quoted for the cars that took part, show just how popular this event is and we were fortunately blessed with a clear night on which to cirmumnavigate the M25 and not too cold either, as it was 6 degrees but I did note that when we got back home my Octavia had a nice layer of ice on the roof.

So, now to go and collect the sponsor money, from all those that kindly sponsored us
